“To me, it is part biography, part sermon and much practical advice for living as followers of Christ. There are some great realizations in there, that most of us take ages to learn, and often forget even after we have been hit on the head with them!! I will endeavor to live in the "Magic" each day. ”

“I want to encourage those of you interested in learning more about God’s love to get a copy of this and read John’s account. Sometimes you will get books that seem over your head but John has put the subject of God’s love on easy to understand terms by showing you how it has impacted and affected his own life. John is pastor of Fairport Community Baptist Church in Fairport, NY. I have had the privilege of spending time with him and I can tell you personally that he, like King David, is a man after God’s own heart. If you are an individual struggling to better understand the love of God this book is for you. If you are wanting to help others understand the love of God, this book if for you. It would also make a great study book for small groups or disciple training classes”.

"Reading John Tuff’s The Magic of God’s Love: The Love Theology of the
Bible has led me to reflect on my own life of faith. “Theology,” as a
technical word, means “the science or study of God.” In the way that Pastor
Tuff uses the term, theology is the biography of faith. By looking with care
at the length, valleys, and rills of my life, I see what Tuff sees – a divine
hand guiding, pushing, pulling, cajoling, and lifting me in my journey.
The author also has a peculiar meaning for his use of the
word “magic.” Stereotypically, magic is making something happen that can’t
happen naturally. It is an improbable cause for an effect that is both sudden
and dramatic. Tuff reverses this process. For him, magic is what happens when
we realize that God is the cause and human faith is the result. Magic is in
the realization that even in those times when we sense only abandonment God
has been there with us, loving us to spiritual health.
Tuff writes with sobering vulnerability and delightful
openness about his encounter with the love theology of the Bible. His story is
real. His conclusions can be trusted. He has made both his book and himself a
resource for others who search for both love and magic in their lives. Readers
of The Magic of God’s Love will find a refreshing look at faith and
insight into the way God uses the energy of love to change lives and restore
joy to the world."
